Directions Playas Del Coco - - Costa Rica

Playas Del Coco is located in a horseshoe shaped bay in the North West province of Costa Rica, Guanacaste. Located just 30 minutes from the Liberia International airport and 35 minutes outside of the bustling town of Liberia itself, Coco is ideal for a quick get away to paradise without the hassle of a long drive after your flight. You can fly from Florida to Costa Rica in a little over 2 hours or from Toronto to Costa Rica in about 5 hours. Due to it’s proximity to the airport, there are many options to reach Coco.

Our Shuttle Service from Liberia airport

We provide a shuttle service pick-up from the airport in our comfortable and spacious mini bus for just $50. Always on time, our hospitable and English speaking driver will be waiting for you outside of the airport doors with a smile and sign with your name on it. This is the fasted and most reliable option to reach Coco. Call us any time to arrange a pick-up time.

Rental Car

There are many rental car agencies located just outside of the airport that will pick you up and drive you to their business. Driving – Drive out of the airport road and turn right. Drive for about 10 minutes until you see a Total gas station, turn right immediately after the gas station. There are plenty of signs to let you know when you’re getting close to the turn for Coco. You are now on the main road to Coco. Drive for 10 minutes and don’t make any turns onto side roads. Eventually the road will divide and you will be on Coco’s main street. Look to the right for the sign for Deep Blue Diving

Bus

By far the most economical option if you don’t mind waiting for the next bus. Depending on your amount of luggage, the bus should only cost you $2. Good deal right, however if you’re carrying a surfboard they may ask you for $2 to bring it. The bus stops by the airport every hour around 10 or 15 minutes after the hour, and the average ride to Coco is about 45 minutes. It is usually well labelled with “Playas Del Coco” on the front windshield.

Taxi

Taxis are usually quite expensive and the driver will generally try to take advantage of someone just arriving from the airport. The driver may ask for as much as $70! If one driver is asking an outrageous price don’t hesitate to find another. There are plenty to choose from, however your best option is to have our reliable driver waiting for you with a fair and established cost.

San Jose

If you rent a car from San Jose take the new highway and head north towards Liberia. The trip should take you about 3 to 4 hours to reach Liberia, then hang a left by the MacDonald’s when you get into town. Follow signs to the airport or Coco then use the directions listed above to get to Coco.

If you decide to bus from San Jose get ready for a long journey, however you will save a lot of money. Outside the airport walk past the red airport taxis (expensive) and find an orange city taxi on the road. Ask to go to the Pulmitan bus station (parada de autobus). The cab should cost about $5, but remember you can haggle down any price they offer. At the bus station you can find a direct bus to Coco at 8am an 2pm. This should cost you about $7. If you can’t catch that bus take any bus to Liberia for $6 (every hour on the hour) and then get another bus from Liberia to Coco for $1 (every hour on the hour). The total trip time can be up to 6 hours, however the bus drive will make a stop half way at a cheap restaurant/store.
